‘Hale House,’ the Boarding House at
Havelock Street was converted into the
new offices of the Premier and Cabinet
Secretariat and officially opened on 26
October.
Late in September, Grayam Sandover
(1964-71), in his capacity as Senior Project
Director with the Department of Finance
Building Management and Works, took
groups of past students around the
newly re-developed Havelock Street site.
Grayam told of some of the contraband
unearthed during the refurbishment,
explained how different areas would
be used and showed off the former
Headmaster’s rooms which will now be
used as the Premier’s office.
The Art Room has transformed into the new ‘Creative Studio’, a
place where boys have space, light and an inspirational creative
sanctuary. It is the first stage of plans to totally redevelop the
Junior School and was finished during the mid-term break with
classes commencing on Day 1 of Semester 2.
Meanwhile, the under utilised squash courts become a fully
functioning strength and conditioning facility catering for the
many boys who continually strive to improve their sporting
performance. All boys are now able to be given a tailored
programme to suit their age, sport and level of experience.

‘Hale@home’, an innovative online learning programme
that helps students prepare for the transition to Hale as a
